TPC SWOT ANALYSIS:
This section analyses the strengths and weaknesses of TPC, opportunities and threats.
Strengths
• Availability of athletes with a disability in schools and centres
• Legal existence - the TPC is legally registered and recognized by the Government in accordance to the Sports registration regulation
• TPC is well established with twenty three years experience
• Available self driven volunteers to support TPC
• Enthusiastic and dedicated management.
Weaknesses
• Inadequate qualified Volunteers e.g. coaches, classifiers, umpires and administrators
• Outreaches- Immobility to reach potentials Athletes in remote areas
• Lack of necessary facilities and equipment
• Reliance on volunteer support and donation
Opportunities
• Good relationships with the Government, institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Active member in good standing with the International Paralympic Committee-IPC and African Sports Confederation for Disabled –ASCOD, and positively recognized by the National Sports Council of Tanzania
• Access and relationship with centres and schools for people with a disability
• Opportunities for social inclusion particularly for youth and women with a disability
Threats
• Public stigmatization that hinders even in securing sponsorship
• Reluctance by parents to expose their children in sports.
• Majority of current and potential athletes live below poverty line
• The ability to provide enough volunteers to run new initiatives or to make payment to hired staff/facilities.
